Broadly defined, I am a terrestrial ecologist although most of my interests revolve around sexual reproduction in plants.  Specific areas of research include the evolution of mating systems, biased sex ratios, plant-ecosystem interactions, sexual dimorphisms, dispersal patterns, and plant - pollinator interactions.

My research includes aspects that are both field based and theoretical.

Terrestrial Ecology

My research has taken me to the deserts of Utah, Northern Minnesota, the Colorado Front Range, Costa Rica, Japan, and Madagascar.  Dioecious species are everywhere!
